“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted on the earth.”
The complete collection
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted on the earth.”
Yahweh of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and their new wine are increased.
In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, Yahweh, make me live in safety.
Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken.
Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.
He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.
I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.”
He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.
In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that through perseverance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you, to the glory of God.
Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.
If we have done our best to do, and to be, we can rest in peace.
Lastly, work secures the rich reward of rest, we must rest to be able to work well, and work to be able to enjoy rest.
Nor can any work, however persevering, or any success, however great, exhaust the prizes of life.
We all admit, though we often forget, the marvellous power of perseverance, and yet all Nature, down to Bruce's spider, is continually impressing this lesson on us.
Work indeed, and hard work, if only it is in moderation, is in itself a rich source of happiness.
Time indeed, is a sacred gift, and each day is a little life.
Time spent in innocent and rational enjoyments, in healthy games, in social and family intercourse, is well and wisely spent.
